ON THIS DAY -
On July 16, 1918, Russia's Czar Nicholas II, his wife and their five children were executed by the Bolsheviks. I just like saying Bolsheviks...rolls off the tongue. The verbal equivalent to scratching poison ivy.
1969 Apollo 11 blasted off from Cape Kennedy on the first manned mission to the moon. Much to Ralph's dismay, Alice was not on board.
2004 Martha Stewart was sentenced to five months in prison for lying about a stock sale, and then another five months of home confinement for just generally being a bitch.
BIRTHDAYS -
Will Ferrel is 41, twinkle toes Michael Flatley is 50 and Stewart Copeland of the Police is 56!
NEWS!
Thanks to shows like Dateline NBC and the internet's over abundance of pseudo news rags portraying child molesters and rapists, a case of McCarthy style unfounded witch hunting damaged a UK mans reputation as an upstanding citizen. A father of three enjoying a day out with his young sons in a U.K. park was branded a "pervert" by other park goers after taking photos of his own kids. Thirty-Nine year old Gary Crutchley was photographing his two youngest sons on an inflatable slide when a woman running the slide asked that he stop. When he didn't, other families waiting on the slide line also demanded he put the camera away. The accusations got so out of hand that Crutchley had to get two policemen to confirm he had done nothing wrong. The police confirmed he had in fact not broken any laws and actually looked "cute" in the sexy catholic school girl uniform he was wearing.
